Best Hikes Near Anchorage

Trails in Alaska are rarely this even and easy to hike. The trail is dirt/gravel and I was pleased with my choice of footwear: tennis shoes. That being said, it's an uphill hike the entire way, and we often found ourselves winded. We made it a few hundred feet past the bench, which we calculated was about 2 and a half miles from the trailhead. Lots of other hikers were out enjoying this hike. We've seen a black bear and her cubs at the treeline in the past. The payoff, the view, was stunning. We could see the entire length of Eklutna.
