Midway between Taunton and Attleboro, about 30 miles south of Boston, is a very enjoyable area for biking. The terrain is nearly level, with an extensive network of little-traveled country roads looping past ponds and prosperous farmland. The region is far enough from Boston to be fairly rural, without much infiltration of suburban development. The Norton Ramble starts from Norton, one of the most pleasantly rural towns within commuting distance of Boston and a graceful New England classic. The centerpiece of the community is Wheaton College, a high-quality school with a lovely campus graced by elegant, ivy-covered wood and brick buildings. A small pond with a footbridge across it adds to the beauty of the setting.
