Located almost smack dab between Kalamazoo and Battle Creek is a rural area that combines the character of the hillier fruit-producing regions farther west and the flatter field crop terrain found to the north and east. Here in southeast Kalamazoo County, the land still has some roll to it, but it's gentler than in the Lake Michigan border counties. Roads are laid out on an orderly grid of numerical and alphabetical names, so it's easy to find your way around. An ice cream shop serving 1950s-era nostalgia with its sundaes and shakes and a small winery tasting room are highlights of this relaxing route. Every few years a supposed sighting of Elvis occurs in Kalamazoo, where he supposedly visited a Burger King after his death. So if you spot the King on this ride, be sure to let the publisher know, so it can be included in future editions. But chances are slim that you?ll find Elvis tooling around in the countryside in between Kalamazoo and Battle Creek. In fact, you won?t find many people at all on this 22-mile ride through rural southeast Kalamazoo County. Terrain: Flat to rolling.
