This ride connects South Haven and Saugatuck, two of southwest Michigan's most popular destinations. Featuring rolling, rural terrain and Lake Michigan breezes, the area is wonderful for bicycling. It is also a fruit belt, and a vineyard and tasting room is a first half highlight of the ride. Blueberry farms and orchards with apples and peaches are also along the route, and you'll probably be able to sample whatever produce is in season from a roadside farm stand. You'll encounter more rolling hills on the first half of the route, heading north to Saugatuck, where a short ferry crossing is an option during summer months. Flatter terrain closer to Lake Michigan will take you back to South Haven. Terrain: Flat to rolling, a few bigger rolls.
