Short Take: 10,000 acres; standing timber, stump flats, some hydrilla and other vegetation, river channel. Of all the lakes in Florida that consistently produced trophy bass of over 10 pounds in the 1970s and 1980s, Rodman Reservoir was perhaps the most famous. For nearly two decades, this 10,000-acre lake on the Oklawaha River ranked at or near the top on everyone’s list of premier big bass waters. Today, Rodman (also known as Lake Oklawaha) might still be listed by some as a trophy lake, but more importantly perhaps, it remains a consistently good lake for overall quality fishing. Trophy fish in the 10- to 12-pound range continue to be caught each year, but it is not the lake it once was. Age, changes in the habitat, and other factors have simply reduced the number of double-digit fish here. Primary Species: Largemouth bass.
