This is a wide river with a moderate flow, a popular destination for float trips except during periods of high water when the river is powerful and can be dangerous for boating.
There are plenty of access points and some opportunities to fish from shore. A special no-kill season is in place from October 1 to November 30. Campgrounds are located in Eddington and Enfield, and motels are scattered along U.S. Route 2. Key Species: smallmouth bass, pickerel.
