My wife and I canoed banks lake and it was awesome. We saw the Eagles and to my amazement the gators stayed away from the canoes (and there was plenty of them). For best gator viewing head South / South West to the back side of the lake. Mating season is also said to be a great photo op. for males vibrating the water. Water visibility was very good and the cypress trees offered much needed mid-day shade. Shallow boats are best due to cypress stumps just below surface.
