Notorious for windy skies, the Livingston area is also noted for its eagles. Golden Eagle are found here year-round, and Bald Eagle are primarily found in winter and during migration. The Paradise Valley and the Corwin, Gardiner, and Jardine areas are reliable places to observe this species. Most impressive is the winter concentration of Bald Eagle, especially along the Yellowstone River from Livingston to Gardiner. All different age classes of Bald Eagle can be observed feeding on carrion, big-game gut piles discarded by hunters, or fish. October through March is the best time for observing eagles here. Thanks to the riparian habitat along the Yellowstone River, the Livingston area also offers good viewing for waterfowl. Sacajawea Park, in the center of town at the south end of Livingston Street, is a good place to observe Canada Goose, Mallard, and occasionally Wood Duck throughout the year.
