great trail but some of it was washed out do the rain. We went a longer route but was a great hike and in good condition. Overall a great day.
An early, cool morning made this an enjoyable hike with varied terrain. Though ranked as "easy" it does have some steep, but short climbs. Most remarkable are the white sandstone bluffs and cliffs encountered on the way up to the West Ridge trail. The views from the ridge are also noteworthy and make this a "must do" hike if you visit Caspers.
We also spied a large bobcat sitting on an oak branch, waryingly watching us as we passed, not 20 feet away.
Though we enjoyed a cool walk that morning, the guide is absolutely on the mark saying that the summer day temps can be pretty high...so take care and take plenty of water if you decide to strike out mid-day in the summer months.
Also, and this is important, many of the trails must be shared with horses, so be mindful of the equestrians who may not see a hiker rounding a sharp corner.
