You will walk not only on the Washington University campus, but also along Delmar Boulevard and through The Loop, University City’s popular student and tourist area. The Loop, which runs for four blocks on either side of Delmar, takes its name from an old streetcar turnaround. It takes its feel, however, from the funky restaurants and music venues, and from the street cafes, bookstores, record shops, and art galleries so often associated with urban college life.
Remember to look down as you walk along Delmar, for you will find the St. Louis Walk of Fame beneath your feet. Brass stars and plaques embedded in the sidewalk honor actors, athletes, or humanitarians who all have one thing in common—they came from St. Louis. Special attractions: Major university campus, World’s Fair sites, “private places,” the Loop, and the Walk of Fame.
