One of the great markets of the world, Pike Place Market is just a long grapefruit toss away from the heart of the hotel and financial center of the city. So this “walk” translates into an almost-daily luncheon stroll for a lot of downtown workers, shoppers, and visitors wearing Brooks Brothers suits, bib overalls, fashion pantsuits, or Seattle Mariner sweatshirts. Not only can you smell the Pike Place Market from two blocks away, you can usually hear it as well. There are “ooohs,” “ahhhs,” and shouted warnings as onlookers watch a fish vendor scoop a 10-pound salmon off a bed of ice and send it spiraling like a football through the air to the counterman, who deftly catches it in an outspread sheet of wrapping paper. Special attractions: Victor Steinbrueck Park, produce vendors, fish merchants, arts and crafts vendors, specialty stores, restaurants, Bell Street Marina, the Seattle Aquarium, the Seattle Art Museum’s Hammering Man sculpture.

One of the most "must do" activities in Seattle. Years later and we still don't get enough of it! Best fresh flowers (price and variety) anywhere around here, great food, great shopping!
