“Plan and plant for a better world” was Dr. JC Raulston’s motto, one that he lived by. The arboretum’s eight acres contain approximately 6,000 different plant varieties from fifty-five countries. More than 100,000 visitors stroll the gardens annually to enjoy its serenity, to get ideas for home gardens, or, in the case of plant professionals, to choose the plants they will sell in their businesses. Although some exhibits in the arboretum are permanent, it is a dynamic garden, changing regularly. The exhibits you see one month may not necessarily be the ones you see the next month or the next season. Something is always blooming in the arboretum, even in the dead of winter. Any time you need or want to stop and rest, take advantage of the benches that have been generously placed in the gardens. Special attractions: The Klein-Pringle White Garden, nandina collection, magnolia collection, water gardens, rose garden, Japanese gardens, and Paradise Garden.
