The best way to access this trail is to exit US 395 at Arrowhead Road, just north of Carson City. Travel west 1.5 miles from the US 395 northbound exit ramp along Arrowhead Road to the intersection of Arrowhead and Goni Roads. This section travels through a suburban neighborhood. The trail properly begins when you turn at the entrance to the Goni Cinder Pit. The road is still paved at this point, but quickly becomes a wide, graded dirt road. Special Attractions: Expansive, 360-degree views over Reno and the Carson Valley. A network of 4WD road to explore. A few shady, backcountry campsites. Can be driven in conjunction with Western #21: Ophir Grade Trail to access Virginia City from Carson City.

Great drive. Fairly steep but my 2WD F150 with a locker made it up with relatively little slipping. The views are incredible. The only real tricky part is coming back down there are many trails and navigation can be challenging. Some of the smaller trails are treacherous so getting lost can be a bad thing.
