The trail through the historic Poeville (or Peavine) Mining District and town site begins at the intersection of Red Rock Road and North Virginia Street, which is located at the south end of the Red Rock exit #78 off of US 395 in Reno. The trail winds its way through Talapoosa National Forest and ends in a suburb of western Reno.
Due to the steep terrain and standard of the roads, this trail should not be attempted in wet conditions. The dirt roads can become extremely muddy. Even in ideal conditions, the use of good off-road tires is highly recommended. Special Attractions: Road through a historic mining district. Expansive views of Reno. A network of other 4WD trails to explore.
