A thrilling ascent to one of Maine’s prettiest mountain settings, with rugged cliffs, spectacular views, and a picturesque alpine tarn. The loop hike described below is difficult in sections, with steep climbing and scrambling over boulders and rock faces near the upper ridge.
Some sections are inaccessible for pets, and may not be suitable for inexperienced hikers or children. For an easier, more direct route, opt for the Brook Trail to and from Tumbledown Pond.
