Quiet paddling on a beautiful, serpentine pond, teeming with wildlife, near Freeport. This is a pleasant paddle to plan around a trip to Freeport or to link with a bike outing at Bradbury Mountain State Park. The pond is composed of two shallow, riverlike tributaries, both inviting and worth exploration. When I paddled here in early fall, I had the place to myself except for the beavers, osprey, kingfishers, herons, turtles, and numerous other wildlife that reside here.
