An outstanding beginner/intermediate ride on terrain dedicated to mountain biking. If you love mountain biking, a trip to Back Country Excursions is a must do. Since 1991, the folks at BCE have devoted themselves to the fat-tire crowd, creating miles of fun and challenging trails specifically catered to off-road riders. From laid-back loops to gnarly, stomach-churning single-tracks, there are rides here for every age and skill level. Intrepid riders will enjoy BCE’s “Rock ’N Log Palace,” an amazing terrain park featuring a variety of apparatus, including a twisting roller coaster log ramp, where you can improve skills or test the limits of your technical abilities. The terrain lies at the foothills of the White Mountains in the midst of a 10,000-acre semi-wilderness preserve crisscrossed by fire roads and the trail network cut and maintained by the Back Country staff. The Plantation Single Track Loop described here is one of BCE’s newest trails and a great ride for a first outing. The 7-mile loop is actually comprised of three single-track trails and a long section of double-track all connected by fire roads.
