A large, open field with lowbush blueberries and other groundcover plants, the rare grasshopper sparrow, the world’s largest population of the rare northern blazing star, and uncommon wildflowers and grasses. This short sand plains loop, shaped like a racing track, gives visitors wide-open spaces bordering a forest of scrub oak, aspen, and gray birch. Special Features: open-field walking, blueberry picking in midsummer, and bunchgrasses and wildflowers.
