Turn-of-the-twentieth-century Italianate formal gardens of the Great House on Castle Hill. Castle Hill, Crane Wildlife Refuge, and Crane Beach comprise the 2,100-acre Crane Estate, now owned and managed by The Trustees of Reservations, a member-supported, Massachusetts-based conservation organization. In the summer months, Castle Hill is often crowded with private and public functions in the gardens and Great House. An especially nice, and less crowded, time for walking at Castle Hill is in fall when the leaves turn. Special Features: walled 1919 “secret” garden, sunken rose garden, and magnificent central Grand Allée.

the beautiful crane estate aloft a long grass mall that leads to the ocean, several conecting trails wind around to the ocean and surround victorian grounds, a great day trip and picnic spot. one word of caution, It is nestled among woodsy area and was nice when we went (sept) but bring mosquito repellant just in case.
