At the center of Wachusett Meadow Wildlife Sanctuary is the old Crocker House on Goodnow Road. The house and barns are surrounded by aging pastures and acres of hayfields. On either side of the road, however, are two diverse forest tracts. Brown Hill lies on the north side, and with an elevation of 1,300 feet and an open summit it has an incredible view. To the south of Goodnow Road is a large beaver wetland which offers the hiker a very different excursion. Both areas are home to a wide assortment of birds and animals that keep the nature lover coming back again and again. Highlights: Beaver wetland, hilltop views, country road, giant sugar maple, excellent wildlife habitat.
