A tree-lined drive leads you through the swamp on your way through Goose Creek State Park. The park is nearly surrounded by water and rests upon a peninsula along the Pamlico River. Bordered by Flatty and Goose Creeks, recreational activities include swimming, fishing, and boating. There’s a boat launch and paddle trails, but the launch site is for canoes and kayaks only. Hiking trails traverse the area, often with raised boardwalks to keep your feet dry. As you explore the swampy, wooded terrain, cypress trees tower overhead, and waterfowl silently tiptoe across the water. There are 2 wheelchair-accessible sites.
