Less than 2 miles south of the North Carolina–Virginia state line, you will find Kimball Point Campground. Kimball Point juts out into Kerr Lake on a narrow peninsula, and the campground takes full advantage of its aquatic surroundings. Once again, many of the campsites offer waterfront views. As with the design of each campground in the recreation area, there is a playground in the middle and picnic areas and shelters near the water’s edge. Although there is not a swim “beach” per se, swimming is permitted at Kimball Point. A single boat ramp graces the property, and the open waters near Kimball Point are popular with the sailing community.
