What a treat you will find at San Lee Park—with the park itself more than the campgrounds. This small community park has two separate camping areas, one for RVs and one for tents only. Scattered amid the campsites are stacks of firewood lined up and free for the burning. Both campgrounds sit atop a knoll on the outskirts of the park and are fairly well shaded. There’s a playground, picnic shelters, 4 miles of hiking trails, and an 11-mile mountain bike trail system that offers some of the best riding in the region. Creeks run throughout the park, and there are two ponds where you can fish or even rent a canoe or paddleboat from the park and paddle or peddle your way around. All of this, and I still haven’t gotten to the highlight that really makes San Lee stand out: a nature center with a full-time outdoor education specialist on staff.
