What a nice facility for those looking for a place to camp with their horses. The Uwharrie National Forest has gone above and beyond and has really set the bar with the Canebrake Horse Camp. The campground has all the amenities of a family campground but has added horse tie-offs, so you don’t have to tie your horse to the trees, which can damage them. There are garden hoses at the horse-washing station, and the forest service is diligently working with local horse clubs on a manure management system. They have provided rakes, shovels, and wheelbarrows to help remove the excess waste from the campground
