A visit to Stone Mountain State Park will leave you in awe. There are wonderful waterfalls, meadows filled with wildflowers, wooded hiking and bridle trails, and of course the shining star itself: Stone Mountain. This 600-foot-tall granite dome has a 4-mile circumference and is said to be over 360 million years old. As for the camping, well, it’s not the reason you would visit this park. Although the sites are well groomed, they are not very wooded or private. But just keep in mind all the wonderful other things this state park has to offer, and you won’t be disappointed.
