As you travel north on Curtis Creek Road from US 70, you notice that random campsites begin to appear on the side of the road. These sites are an isolated part of the campground, and although they are right on the side of the road, they are actually the nicest sites in the campground. They are extremely private, and you get the added bonus of waterfront property, as these sites sit right beside Curtis Creek. The campground is kept quite neat and clean. And my nostalgic side appreciates that this is part of the very first tract of land to become national forestland. Purchased under the Weeks Act back in 1911, it has remained in the caring hands of the USDA Forest Service ever since.
