Carolina Hemlocks has two separate sections—one on the west side and one on the east side of NC 80. Whichever you choose, you are in for a treat. The west side is wooded but not that private. A few of the campsites, however, sit high upon a ledge, overlooking the South Toe River. This, combined with a great wooded picnic area and a phenomenal stone-walled swimming hole, make the west side of the campground quite inviting. While you don’t have the river rushing by in the campground’s eastern half, you do have lots more space and woods in between the campsites, giving you plenty of privacy and tranquility as you appreciate the lush land around you.
