This is an amazing hike for cascade-lovers. Begin the tour with the delightful Lower Mission Falls near the trailhead. During the steep climb along Mission Creek, you pass views of South Fork Mission Falls to the north and Elizabeth Falls to the east. Mission Falls is a string of terraced cascades that’s too tall to view all at once. After stopping to enjoy the small but elegant Lower Mission Falls, start hiking up the north slope of Mission Canyon through tall semi-open forest of cedar and fir. The Mission Creek drainage is teeming with wildlife. Look for woodpeckers in the treetops and mountain goats on the cliff faces to the south. After a quarter mile of grueling climbing, you reach a ledge with an outstanding view of the mountains that tower over the canyon.
