Spectacular vistas of St. Mary Lake and surrounding peaks are a continuous reward as you climb over 1,000 feet along Rose Creek. Several sizable cascades rage during high water, and the largest and most beautiful of them all, Upper Rose Creek Falls, waits for you at the foot of Goat Mountain. Extend the hike a couple more miles to Otokomi Lake, nestled in a glacially carved basin. The landscape around Rose Creek Trail was affected by the Reynolds Creek Fire of 2015. Be aware of hazards when hiking in recently burned areas, such as falling trees, sliding rocks, and flash floods.
