It would be wrong to say that Boulder Mountain is in the middle of nowhere. On the contrary, this magnificent and rugged part of Dixie National Forest is in the middle of everything, and Pleasant Creek is the best place to stay on Boulder Mountain. (While the campground is within Dixie National Forest, it’s administered by Fishlake National Forest.) A quick calculation by a popular online mapping service shows the drive time to the town of Torrey at 3 hours and 44 minutes from the biggest cities of both Salt Lake and Washington Counties, the most populated counties of northern and southern Utah, respectively. That means that most Utahns could leave work on a Friday afternoon and be sitting in a camp chair listening to the bubbling waters of Pleasant Creek as it passes by their tent just as the summer sun goes down.
