The lonely Stansbury Mountains can make you feel like you’re stranded on an island, but you should be so lucky to be stuck with this mountain range to explore. Surrounded by sand and sage on three sides and the Great Salt Lake to the northeast, the Stansbury Range is a bona fide oasis in the desert. Six different campgrounds lie along South Willow Canyon Road, Loop being the last, abutting the Deseret Peak Wilderness. It lives up to its name: the long, skinny campground loop is created where the road turns to direct cars back down the canyon. Along the loop are campsites that are average in size and in well-used condition.
