At 6,150 feet, this campground isn’t exactly up in the alpine air, so the shade provided by the enormous riparian corridor cottonwoods is something to cherish. At Hailstone, they just don’t have this luxury. Rock View (sites 1–7) was built to meet ADA standards and is closest to the parking areas on the near side of the river. Reach Riverbend (sites 8–16), Aspen Grove (sites 17–36), and Upland Meadow (sites 37–51) by crossing the Provo River over a footbridge. Each site is clean and neat, spread out among the crisscrossing footpaths. Booking a site at Rock Cliff online can be confusing. Be sure to select “Rock Cliff” when searching reserveamerica.com—searching for just “Jordanelle” pulls up the sites at Hailstone, and it’s hard to navigate to the Rock Cliff side. Reservations are accepted Memorial Day– Labor Day, but your chances of getting a site by simply showing up are actually quite good, save for busy weekends and holidays.
