If you’re a local, it’s hard to keep from giggling when you make the turn off US 189 toward Squaw Peak. Almost everyone in Utah County knows that Squaw Peak is where young couples go to spend “quality time” together. What no one seems to know, though, is that the road to Utah County’s veritable Lover’s Lane also takes you to one of Utah’s best-kept camping secrets: Hope Campground. Hope Campground is mere minutes from Provo and Orem, so you would expect it to be jam-packed with people looking for a quick weekend getaway—it’s the only overnight campground located in the immediate Provo Canyon area, after all.
