This is a very short hike that you should take before setting out on any of the other trails around Koke’e State Park because it will help you identify some of the trees, ferns, and flowers you will see in the surrounding forests. Even more important, it will help you appreciate what a rare and valuable environment Kaua’i still supports. Several of the specimens described along the nature trail are found nowhere else in the world. You can pick up a free trail guide at the Koke’e Museum. Remember to return it when you’re finished. (You can also buy your own to keep. The booklet itself is a handmade little work of art.)
