With a history stretching back more than a hundred years to its 1908 origin as the Horticultural Research Center, the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum is a special place and an enormously popular destination in the Minneapolis-Saint Paul metro area. Its extensive gardens of trees, wildflowers, grasses, shrubbery, and more serve as living monuments to Minnesota’s varied wetland, prairie, and forest ecology. As part of the University of Minnesota’s College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences, the arboretum is as noteworthy for its research and education efforts as it is for its enviable beauty.
