Hiking the Wolsfeld Woods Scientific and Natural Area is like learning a really great secret, the kind you’ll have no problem keeping all to yourself. Hidden behind a nondescript trailhead in the northeast corner of the Trinity Lutheran Church parking lot, easily missed unless you know it’s there, is a 3.1-mile hike through a fantastic Big Woods forest of the sort that was once common in the region. It’s an excellent place for birders, with more than 150 species recorded, including 12 duck and 27 warbler species.
