The summit of South Turner Mountain offers the best view of Katahdin from the east. The hike is relatively ?at, to and around Sandy Stream Pond. There are three side trails of bog boards to the pond that give you a chance to look for moose and ducks. Beyond the pond, the trail is very steep up South Turner Mountain. The ?nal push to the summit ascends a slide of loose rocks.
