Blueberry Ledges is a huge expanse of semi-open granite bedrock that Katahdin Stream slides down. On and around the ledges grow birch trees and, of course, blueberries. It’s one of the most extraordinary sights in Baxter. The hike reaches the ledges from the south, beginning at Abol Beach. This route follows Abol Stream with ?ne views of Katahdin, before turning north toward Blueberry Ledges. The Blueberry Ledges Trail runs 4.4 miles from the Tote Road just east of Katahdin Stream campground to the Appalachian Trail near Abol Bridge. Along its course, the trail descends about 500 feet. The ledges are 1.4 miles north of the AT and 3.0 miles south of the Tote Road. This hike gets to Blueberry Ledges from the south, using the Abol Stream Trail that begins at Abol Beach picnic area. Blueberry Ledges is a huge, semi-open expanse of bare granite that Katahdin Stream slides down.
