The Abol Trail is the shortest route to Baxter Peak on Katahdin. As you would expect, it’s extremely steep. The hike offers spectacular views of the surrounding country. This hike also includes a hike around the base of Baxter Peak through the Table Land. In 2016, Abol Trail was rerouted away from a dangerous slide. The new trail offers more expansive views than the old trail.
