Sentinel Mountain is a rocky ridge that rises more than 1,000 feet above the West Branch of the Penobscot River in the southwest corner of Baxter. The hike passes through areas of forest and bog before climbing to the summit ridge. The trail loops around the summit, crossing open bedrock and patches of forest and blueberries. There are several viewpoints along the way.

Hiking Maine's Baxter State Park

Sentinel Mountain is a rocky ridge that rises more than 1,000 feet above the West Branch of the Penobscot River in the southwest corner of Baxter. The hike passes through areas of forest and bog before climbing to the summit ridge.

The trail loops around the summit, crossing open bedrock and patches of forest and blueberries. There are several viewpoints along the way.
