This little loop visits two glacial valleys below the steep, towering escarpment of the east face of the Sierra. It occupies a transition zone between the rugged granite mountains to the west and the open, dry, austere Basin and Range country stretching away to the east, out across Nevada. This route samples both of those landscapes.
