This must be one of the easiest rides in the book...for navigation. It’s mostly just one long out-and-back with a couple of minor wrinkles. But that’s the only way this ride is easy. In terms of e?ort, it’s a bit of a brute, with climbs that are both long and steep. The ride begins and ends in Markleeville, the little town in Alpine County that is the home of a popular midsummer ride called the Tour of the California Alps or, in common parlance, the Markleeville Death Ride.
