The Jedediah Smith Memorial Trail, more commonly known as the American River Trail, is one of the longest purpose-built bike trails in the state, stretching for 32 miles from Sacramento to Folsom Lake. While the trail has run alongside the American River since the 1970s, it is no aging relic. The County of Sacramento keeps it in tip-top shape, with new features added every year and with old elements upgraded or well maintained.
