As this is the southernmost ride in our “state” of Northern California, it’s appropriate that it should stage out of a village that feels as if it might be down along the border. Much of that Spanish California ambience derives from the 1797 Mission San Juan Bautista, one of the largest of the California missions. It still serves as the parish church for the charming village of the same name, which abuts the mission compound.
