This is the southernmost ride in the immediate Bay Area (the suburban sprawl around San Francisco Bay). Its two loops dangle like Christmas tree ornaments off the bottom edge of San Jose. The route dodges around the edges of the suburbs in a few spots, but most of it is out in the country. The best parts of the ride are very good indeed. The ride stages out of Almaden State Park. Almaden Reservoir is one of five lakes this ride passes.
