When cyclists in the South Bay want to escape the suburban sprawl, they head for the Santa Cruz Mountains, the rugged, forested ridgelines that form the high backbone between the ocean and the southern reaches of San Francisco Bay. There are many ?ne roads in these hills and many ways to string them together into good rides. This loop and Ride 34 are my two choices for rides beginning in the South Bay suburbs and heading west.
