This is one of three big rides in what might loosely be described as the East Bay hills. The highest pro?le element on this ride—both literally and ?guratively—is the climb and descent of 3849' Mount Diablo, a solitary peak looming over the hills of Contra Costa County. But the ride is more than just the trek to the summit. It’s a circumnavigation of the mountain, a tour of some of the 90,000 acres contained within Mount Diablo State Park and the dozens of preserves, watersheds, and farms surrounding the mountain.
