The charming town is at least part of the attraction with this ride. The Tour of the Unknown Coast (TUC) promoters like to call this big ride the hardest century in the state. I don’t know if it’s the hardest, but it’s a challenge, for sure, and it might be the most beautiful. It visits one of the only sections of California coast without a major highway nearby, hence the name Unknown Coast. Road conditions include everything from freeway shoulders to town streets to remote country roads. Pavement varies from excellent to poor.
