Round San Leandro Bay is a mercifully flat ride around peaceful San Leandro Bay, an estuarine body of water that actually borders Oakland and Alameda. The ride passes through these cities via a path that follows the shoreline, and which is part of the Martin Luther King Jr. Regional Shoreline.
The ride hugs the bay’s shoreline, except for an optional out-and-back segment that veers off to the southwest to follow the shoreline of Bay Farm Island. The route features two bridge crossings, one of which is for pedestrians and bicycles only. Despite the title, 45 percent of the ride is in the city of Oakland, while the rest is in Alameda.
