This campground is very popular with people who want to hike the trails leading out of the campground. Dutch Branch Trail (1 mile) leads through a rich cove forest of mostly beech and hemlock. Lakeside South Trail (4 miles) follows the shore of the lake and connects with Twin Branch Trail (1 mile) and Ned Branch Trail (1.75 miles) to form an 8.5-mile loop around the campground. This campground is located near the tailwaters of Lake Cumberland and a short drive to Laurel River Lake, making it a good location to explore both. If you’re looking for a great place to hike in a roughing-it environment, this could be your place.
